Hopper Barge (Frangista / Walton Barge)

A 195-foot hopper barge in 80 feet, with a stern rising 25 feet off the sand.

The Frangista Barge — also known as the “Hopper Barge” or “Walton Barge” — is a 195-foot hopper barge about 9 miles east of the Destin East Pass. She was sunk on June 30, 1999 along with 100 tons of steel ballast.

She sits upright on a sandy bottom in 80 feet of water, running east/west with the bow pointing west. Her sides have collapsed nearly flat, but the stern rises about 25 feet off the bottom and the flat bow stands about 15 feet.
